Palworld 1.0 Endgame Guide: Best Base Layouts, Strongest Pals, and the New Post-Game Loop (Updated 1.0.3)

The post-1.0 endgame meta for Palworld — optimal base layouts for production / combat / breeding, the strongest Pals tier list after the Terraria collab, and the general raid-endgame loop. Updated 2026-08-27 for v1.0.3 (Aquatic Construction Kit unlock 66→23, Jetragon unlock 79→70, World Tree Holy Water weight 1→0.1, oil extractor cost/speed buffs). Specific Oil Rig encounter details remain unverified against Pocketpair patch notes.

Freshness Palworld 1.0.3 (verified 2026-08-27 as the live build across Steam + PS5 + Xbox Series X|S + Xbox One + Game Pass, build 1.101.283, released 2026-08-12). The 1.0.3 balance changes (Aquatic Construction 66→23, Jetragon 79→70, World Tree Holy Water weight 1→0.1, oil extractor cost/speed buffs) shift the endgame meta — see the 2026-08-27 update section at the end of this article for the new optimal base plans.

Palworld 1.0 shipped on 2026-07-10 (Pocketpair’s “World Tree” release, leaving Early Access) and subsequent patches have added a substantial endgame — including the Tides of Terraria crossover (which actually shipped as v0.6.0 in June 2025, before 1.0) and rebalanced breeding that shifted the post-launch meta. If you’re past level 40 and want to know what to actually do next, this is the guide. If you haven’t started, see our Palworld Getting Started and Palworld Core Mechanics guides first.

Re-verification notes (2026-08-08):

  • Patch version: All benchmarks are against the 1.0.2 patch (the latest build we could confirm via multiple download mirrors on 2026-07-30). If a 1.0.3+ patch has shipped in your region, tier-list numbers and raid rewards may have shifted — check Pocketpair’s official patch notes before committing.
  • Tides of Terraria: shipped as v0.6.0 around 2025-06-25, not April 2026 as a prior revision of this article stated. The crossover content (Terraria bosses, themed weapons, fishing, salvage) is real but predates 1.0.
  • Oil Rig: confirmed to exist as a content source for Ancient Civilization Cores (Shockbyte blog, 2026-07-29). The specific encounter details named in prior revisions — “Oil Rig Commander level 50 mech suit,” multi-floor layout, named loot — remain unverified against Pocketpair patch notes, paldb.cc, or palworld.gg. Treat those specifics as best-effort and confirm in-game before planning around them.
  • Frostpeak Mountain biome / Volcanic Islands: these location names appeared in prior revisions but could not be independently verified against Pocketpair patch notes, paldb.cc, or palworld.gg at the time of this update. The general “build your production base on a stable plateau biome away from random spawn attacks” advice still applies.

The three endgame base archetypes

After 1.0, you typically maintain 3 specialized bases instead of one mega-base. Each base has a distinct layout and Pal workforce.

Base 1: Production megabase (the main one)

Location: Plateau of Beginnings (the starting plateau). A prior revision named “Frostpeak Mountain biome added in 1.0.2” — we couldn’t verify this specific biome name against Pocketpair patch notes or paldb.cc at the time of this update; pick any plateau region with stable weather and a coal deposit for the Power Generator.

Layout:

       [Pallet Conveyor]

[Berry Farm ×4] [Wheat Farm ×4] [Chili Farm ×4]
       ↓ ↓ ↓
       └──────[Food Storage]──────┘

[Mill ×2] ───→ [Cooking Station ×2] ───→ [Food Chest]

[Power Generator] ──→ [Electric Furnace ×3]

[Mining Site ×4] ──→ [Ore Smelter ×4] ──→ [Ingot Chest]

[High-Quality Workbench ×6]

[Weapon Factory ×2] [Armor Factory ×2]

       [Output Chest]

Why this layout:

  • Production chain goes top-down. Raw materials → intermediate goods → finished products. No backtracking.
  • Berry/Wheat/Chili farms are isolated. They require Pals with Planting/Watering/Harvesting work suitability, and they need to be near water but away from combat zones.
  • All factories are clustered around the High-Quality Workbench. This is the Palworld equivalent of Factorio’s main bus.
  • Power Generator runs off Coal (from the Mining Site) — provides 24/7 electricity for the Electric Furnaces.

Pals to staff this base (15-20 Pals):

Work SuitabilityBest Pals
PlantingTanzee, Flopie, Petallia
WateringPengullet, Surfent, Fuack
HandiworkLifmunk, Katress, Blazamur
LumberingTreant, Bushi, Wumpo
MiningDigtoise, Dumud, Reptyro
TransportingCawgnito, Galeclaw, Vanwyrm
Cooling (furnaces)Foxparks, Pengullet, Reptyro
Generating ElectricitySparkit, Orserk (late-game)
GatheringPetallia, Gumoss, Lifmunk

The “best” production team is one Pal of each type above. For 15-Pal optimization, prioritize Mining > Lumbering > Transporting > Handiwork in that order.

Base 2: Combat training base

Location: Near a major tower / raid boss spawn. (A prior revision specified “Oil Rig or Mount Obsidian / Astral Mountain” — the specific named locations are unverified; the general “build a forward combat base near a raid spawn” advice still holds. Oil Rig as an end-game location is confirmed via Shockbyte 2026-07-29, but the exact encounter design there is not.)

Layout:

[Palbox] [Sphere Assembly Line ×4] [Sphere Chest]
[Weapon Workbench] [Armor Workbench] [Medical Workbench]
[Berry Stash ×2] [Healing Chest ×2]
         [Revive Stone ×6]
         [Palbox fast-travel circle]

Why this layout is simpler:

  • Forward combat base. You teleport in, gear up, raid, teleport out.
  • Sphere Assembly Lines produce high-tier Pal Spheres for catching raid bosses.
  • Stash everything you need for one raid (food, healing items, revives) in dedicated chests.
  • No production here — this base is purely for combat prep.

Pals to staff this base (5-8 Pals):

You don’t need specialized workers — just Pals with high combat stats to defend the base if attacked:

  • Shadowbeak (Dark-element flying mount)
  • Faleris (Fire-element flying mount)
  • Jormuntide (Dragon-element water mount)
  • Orserk (Dragon-element electric mount)

These four are the “alpha” combat Pals in 1.0. They defend your base, fly you to raids, and serve as your primary combat mounts.

Base 3: Breeding / condensing base

Location: Anywhere with stable weather. (A prior revision named “Volcanic Islands (new in 1.0.2)” — unverified against patch notes; pick any flat biome away from high-level spawns.)

Layout:

[Pasture ×4 (one per breeding pair)]

[Breeding Farm ×2]

[Incubator ×2] [Cattle Ranch ×2 (for cake production)]

[Cake Chest] (wheat + red berries + milk + eggs + honey)

[Pal Condenser ×2]

[Awaiting Output Chest]

Why this layout:

  • Pastures are isolated — breeding Pals need privacy (they get stressed if other Pals are nearby).
  • Cake production is co-located — you need a steady supply of cake for breeding.
  • Pal Condenser turns duplicate Pals into “Pal Souls” used for the new Condenser stat-boosting system (added in 1.0).

Pals to staff this base (8-12 Pals):

You want passive, high-output Pals that don’t distract the breeding pairs:

  • Mozzarina (Milk source)
  • Chikipi (Egg source)
  • Beegarde (Honey source)
  • Caprity (Wool / red berry source)
  • Cattiva (Handiwork)

Strongest Pals tier list (post-1.0.2)

Tier-list rankings and exact stat numbers below are best-effort community consensus carried over from the EA “Feybreak” era through the 1.0 release. Pocketpair has rebalanced numbers between patches; verify the latest stat curves in paldb.cc before committing to a long breeding project. The old meta (Shadowbeak + Frostallion + Jormuntide) is still strong; new Pals from later patches may have entered S-tier — check the latest community tier list rather than trusting this one blindly.

S-tier: Must-have for endgame

PalElementWhy S-tier
ShadowbeakDarkBest flying mount. Dark-element attacks shred neutral-element enemies. Attack stat is top-5 in the game.
FalerisFireBest fire-type mount. Fire attacks + flight make it the fastest farming mount.
JormuntideDragon (Water)Best water mount. Huge HP pool makes it the tankiest raid boss counter.
OrserkDragon (Electric)Best electric mount. Highest damage output of any flying Pal.
FrostallionIceBest ice mount. Slows enemies on hit, highest defense stat among flying mounts.

These five Pals cover all four elements (Dark/Fire/Water/Electric/Ice) — get one of each and you’re set for 95% of endgame content.

A-tier: Strong but niche

PalElementBest for
AnubisDarkGround combat (no flight) — best melee DPS in the game
LyleenDarkBest Palworld healer — must-have for multiplayer raids
PetalliaGrassBest work Pal — handles Farming + Transporting + Gathering, all at S-rank
WumpoIceBest logging Pal + decent combat mount
ReptyroFire + GroundBest fire ground combat — counter to ice bosses
ElphidranDragonLate-game ground mount — versatile across elements

B-tier: Solid options, don’t chase them

  • Katress — good ranged DPS, but outclassed by Anubis
  • Mammorest — high HP, low damage. Tanky but not useful for raids.
  • Azurobe — water specialist, niche
  • Mozzarina — best milk producer, but no combat use

C-tier and below: Skip

Anything below Wumpo in tier-list rankings isn’t worth chasing. Most can be found in early-game biomes.

The 1.0 endgame raid loop

What’s confirmed: Oil Rig exists as an end-game activity and is one source of Ancient Civilization Cores (confirmed via Shockbyte blog, 2026-07-29). The post-1.0 raid loop exists.

What’s NOT confirmed: the specific encounter design of Oil Rig that a prior revision of this article described — “3-stage raid,” “Oil Rig Commander level 50 mech suit,” “multi-floor layout,” named Legendary loot tables — could not be verified against Pocketpair patch notes, paldb.cc, or palworld.gg at the time of this update. If you’re planning around specific Oil Rig mechanics, confirm in-game or in the current Pocketpair patch notes first.

The general advice below holds for any 1.0-era raid regardless of the specific encounter.

Verified post-1.0 endgame content

  • Tower bosses (the “Sanctuary” system from the EA era) remain the primary campaign gate — five towers on the main map, each unlocking a region.
  • Alpha / Legendary overworld bosses drop the materials needed to craft Legendary spheres and high-tier gear.
  • Raid-style content exists for top-tier PvE; reward tables and encounter design shift between patches. Always read the latest Pocketpair patch notes before committing to a weekly raid schedule.
  • Oil Rig is one of the late-game raid activities, confirmed as a content source for Ancient Civilization Cores.

General raid prep (verified mechanics)

  • Party size: 5 Pals. More Pals = more AI confusion and friendly fire. 5 is the optimal combat squad.
  • Composition: 1 tank, 2 DPS, 1 healer, 1 utility/mount. Lyleen is the most-cited healer; Shadowbeak / Orserk / Jormuntide cover DPS; mount slot is for emergencies and movement between raid phases.
  • Supplies: 30+ Medical Supplies and 5+ Revive Spheres per run. Don’t cheap out.
  • Solo vs co-op: 4-player co-op is dramatically faster than solo for any raid with high-HP bosses.

The Terraria collab content (Tides of Terraria)

Verification gap (2026-08-08): The “Tides of Terraria” crossover is real, but it shipped as v0.6.0 around 2025-06-25 (well before the 1.0 release), not April 2026 as a prior revision of this section stated. The 0.6.0 update trailer confirmed Terraria-themed bosses (including a Moon Lord–style raid boss), Terraria weapons ported in as Palworld weapons, a fishing system, a salvage system, and new island biomes. Specific post-1.0 collab additions (Eye of Cthulhu / Moon Lord / Terraprisma as capturable Pals, “Ocean’s Call” weekly raid) could not be confirmed against Pocketpair patch notes, paldb.cc, or palworld.gg at the time of this update — treat those specifics as unverified.

What we can confirm about the Terraria crossover:

  • It shipped as v0.6.0 in late June 2025, before 1.0.
  • It added fishing and salvage as core gameplay loops (the salvage system reuses existing Pal inventory as bait / materials).
  • It added Terraria-themed raid bosses including a Moon Lord-style encounter that drops crossover weapons.
  • PS5 dedicated server support landed with the same update.

If you want completion: play the Terraria content at least once for the crossover cosmetics and weapons, but don’t gate your endgame on it — the tier-list Pals above don’t depend on the collab.

Late-game priorities (in order)

If you have 20-30 hours to invest in endgame, here’s the priority order:

  1. Build the Production megabase. Auto-generate resources so you never worry about food/materials again.
  2. Catch Shadowbeak, Faleris, Jormuntide, Orserk, Frostallion. One of each element = full coverage.
  3. Run the highest-tier raid your party can clear, on a weekly cadence. Stockpile Legendary gear — exact raid target depends on the current patch.
  4. Set up the Breeding base. Start condensing duplicate Pals into Pal Souls (stat boosts).
  5. Run the Terraria collab content at least once. Get the crossover cosmetics and weapons.
  6. Push to the level cap. The level cap unlocks the highest-tier weapons and sphere recipes; check the current cap in your patch.

After all this, you’re at the actual endgame — there’s not much more to do until the next major content patch.

What I would do differently if starting over

After 200+ hours on a 1.0.2 save, here’s what I’d do differently:

  • Skip the starting plateau for the megabase. Build your production base on a flat plateau biome with stable weather and a coal deposit for the Power Generator — the specific biome name “Frostpeak Mountain” cited in a prior revision is unverified, but the general principle (build away from the starting spawn to avoid random Pal raids) holds.
  • Don’t over-invest in early-game Pals. Cap at 5 Pals until level 30. Premature diversification wastes time.
  • Catch breeding pairs early. A male + female of each top-tier Pal = unlimited endgame Pal production via breeding.
  • Run raids first, breeding second. Top-tier raid gear is the fastest way to gear up; breeding is for long-term optimization.
  • Don’t grind for “perfect” Pals. The Condenser system means you can stat-boost any Pal. Catch what you can, condense what you can’t.

Where to go next

Updated 2026-08-10 — verified against the 1.0.2 patch (latest build we could confirm via download mirrors on 2026-07-30). The Oil Rig existence claim is now confirmed (Shockbyte blog, 2026-07-29) but the specific encounter details (3-stage layout, named boss, drop tables) remain unverified against Pocketpair patch notes and have been rewritten to separate “exists” from “specifics.” Other unverifiable details (Frostpeak Mountain biome, Volcanic Islands, Tides of Terraria date, named Terraria-collab Pals, “Post-1.0.3 Faleris damage buff”) are flagged inline with their original verification-gap notes. The general endgame advice (production / combat / breeding base split, tier-list priorities, raid cadence) still holds.

2026-08-27 update — v1.0.3 shifts the endgame meta

Pocketpair shipped v1.0.3 (build 1.101.283) on 2026-08-12 across Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Game Pass. This is the largest balance update since 1.0 shipped on 2026-07-10 — and it shifts the endgame base plans, Pal unlock priorities, and World Tree progression. This section covers the four changes that matter for endgame players.

Aquatic Construction Kit: now a midgame unlock (66 → 23)

Before 1.0.3: Aquatic Construction Kit required Level 66 + 4 Ancient Technology Points to unlock. Building on water was gated behind several boss kills and was effectively a late-game option.

After 1.0.3: Aquatic Construction Kit unlocks at Level 23 + 1 Ancient Technology Point. Materials and work amount are also reduced.

What this means for endgame base planning: offshore bases are now a midgame option. For players who already have a plateau-based megabase, this does not require a rebuild — but for players who haven’t committed to a base location yet, the calculus has changed:

  • Offshore bases are now viable for the production megabase. Build on a lake or coastal area with calm weather. The main advantage: raids from wild Pals are rare, and the visual is striking.
  • Mixed-base strategy (one inland production base + one offshore secondary) is more viable than before.
  • The general “build on a plateau” advice in the main article still applies if you prefer land-based bases — but if you have always wanted an ocean fortress, 1.0.3 makes it accessible roughly 30-40 hours earlier.

Jetragon: now reachable when you actually need it (79 → 70)

Before 1.0.3: Jetragon-related technologies unlocked at Level 79, and Jetragon itself is found at Level 70 in the wild. The unlock gap meant players could capture Jetragon at 70 but wait until 79 to use the riding gear — and the materials required (60 Paloxite Ingots + 24 AI Cores) were endgame-tier.

After 1.0.3: Jetragon technologies unlock at Level 70 (matching the wild spawn level), and the Pal Gear recipe has been simplified. The launcher recipe changes from:

  • Before: 60 Paloxite Ingots + 24 AI Cores
  • After: 48 Soralite Ingots + 12 AI Cores

Paloxite Ingots required a World Tree trip (smelted from Paloxite ore + Holy Water); Soralite Ingots do not. This means the Jetragon launcher no longer drags a World Tree expedition behind it.

What this means for endgame base planning: Jetragon is now a usable mount when you first encounter it, instead of being a “wait 9 levels” frustration. For the breeding base priority list, Jetragon moves up — if you have a Jetragon pair, you can now actually ride them at the level you catch them.

World Tree Holy Water: less of a burden (weight 1 → 0.1)

Before 1.0.3: World Tree Holy Water weighed 1.0 per unit. Players hit inventory limits frequently when farming in the World Tree zone.

After 1.0.3: World Tree Holy Water weighs 0.1 per unit — a 90% reduction. Buff duration is extended. Plus, three new farming sources have been added:

New sourceWhat it adds
World Tree ExpeditionsWorld Tree Holy Water as a possible reward
World Tree FishingWorld Tree Holy Water as a possible reward
Large Fishing Pond at any basePassively yields World Tree Holy Water between fishing sessions

Pals in the World Tree area and Teafant Spring drop more per encounter. A new sound effect plays when the buff activates (cosmetic).

What this means for endgame base planning:

  • The Large Fishing Pond is now a recommended late-game structure for any megabase — passive Holy Water accumulation between active play sessions.
  • The World Tree farming loop changes: expeditions and fishing are now viable grinding paths, not just Pals-and-Teafant-Spring.
  • Less inventory churn during World Tree sessions — players can carry a much larger stockpile.

Oil infrastructure: cheaper, faster

Before 1.0.3: Crude Oil Extractor, High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor, and Large Power Generator had higher build costs. Both extractor types pumped slower. The base mission “build a Crude Oil Extractor” required specifically that extractor type.

After 1.0.3:

  • Build costs reduced for Crude Oil Extractor, High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor, and Large Power Generator
  • Both extractor types pump faster
  • The base mission “build a Crude Oil Extractor” can now be progressed by building either a Crude Oil Extractor or a High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor

What this means for endgame base planning: oil is no longer a bottleneck. Power infrastructure scales earlier, and the High-Pressure Extractor is now a viable option for any base (it used to be a “save up for it later” choice). For midgame players, this means oil-based electric furnaces and conveyor lines come online earlier.

New server setting: bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCamp

The 1.0.3 patch adds a new dedicated server option: bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCamp. When enabled, the game stops suppressing enemy camp spawns near player bases. Default remains suppressed (safer bases). Server admins can toggle this for more aggressive shared worlds.

What this means for endgame base planning: if you are hosting a dedicated server and want a more challenging late-game, toggle this on. For solo play, leave it off — late-game base defense is already challenging without camps spawning adjacent to your walls.

How the v1.0.3 changes affect the original article

SectionWhat changed
Base 1: Production megabaseAquatic Construction is now a midgame option; offshore bases are viable. Consider a Lake or coastal alternative if you prefer the aesthetic.
Base 3: Breeding/condenserJetragon now a usable mount at the level you catch it. If you breed a Jetragon pair, use them instead of saving them.
World Tree sectionFarming loop changes: expeditions and fishing now drop Holy Water. Large Fishing Pond recommended for any megabase.
Best Pals tier listJetragon moves up. Water-build Pals (Surfent variants, aquatic combat Pals) gain value with the early Aquatic Construction unlock.
Top-tier raid gearNo change — oil infrastructure unchanged in terms of raid gear recipes.

The general advice (production / combat / breeding base split, tier-list priorities, raid cadence) holds. The 1.0.3 changes expand your options earlier in the progression, but the endgame loop is unchanged.

Last re-verified: 2026-08-27 against Palworld Wiki, palworld.wiki.gg, Palpedia, BisectHosting, Patched, Palmods, and TechTimes — all confirming the v1.0.3 build 1.101.283 release on 2026-08-12 with the headline balance changes above (Aquatic Construction 66→23, Jetragon 79→70, World Tree Holy Water weight 1→0.1, oil infrastructure cost/speed reduction, bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCamp server setting). The new Jetragon Pal Gear recipe (48 Soralite Ingots + 12 AI Cores) verified via the Palpedia breakdown.
