Palworld 1.0 World Tree Update: New Islands, 72 New Pals, Awakening & Mutation

Everything verified in Palworld 1.0 ("World Tree") — the Sun-Sky Village floating island, the World Tree main-story area, 72 new Pals bringing the total to 287, the new Awakening and Mutation training systems, and what changes for existing saves.

Freshness Verified against the Palworld 1.0 release (shipped 2026-07-10) and 1.0.2 patch (live as of 2026-07-30). Numbers (287 total Pals, +72 new, two training systems) sourced from Pocketpair's 1.0 announcement and corroborated by paldeck.cc and paldb.cc as of August 2026.

TL;DR: Palworld 1.0 (“World Tree”) launched 2026-07-10, ending Early Access. Confirmed additions: a new floating sky island (Sun-Sky Village), a new story-core area (the World Tree), 72 new Pals (total 287), and two new training systems — Awakening and Mutation (their existence is confirmed; the detailed mechanics — UI flow, how they interact with the Condenser, story gating — are not in any Pocketpair-published spec at this writing). All existing Pals were rebalanced. The rebalance affects breeding: old tier lists from 2025 / early 2026 are out of date. This guide covers what’s verified and what isn’t.

This guide is the companion to Palworld 1.0 Endgame: Best Base Layouts. Read that for the base-building endgame; this article covers what 1.0 specifically adds.

1. What’s new in 1.0 (verified)

From Pocketpair’s 1.0 announcement (corroborated by paldex.io, paldeck.cc, and paldb.cc as of August 2026):

Two new regions

RegionTypeVerified detail
Sun-Sky VillageFloating island in the skyNew mid-game area; access requires a flying mount
World TreeThe story-core regionEnd-game area tied to the 1.0 main-story finale

Both regions add their own Pal roster, resources, and story chapters. Existing Palpagos Islands map content remains but has been expanded — paldb.cc reports the explorable surface is significantly larger.

72 new Pals, total 287

  • +72 new Pal species added in the 1.0 update.
  • Total Pal roster: 287 (up from ~215 in the late-EA “Feybreak” era).
  • All existing Pals rebalanced — stats, work suitability, and breeding outcomes all shifted.

Implication for breeding: a breeding project that started in the EA “Feybreak” era may produce different offspring in 1.0. The Breeding & Condenser Guide tier-list assumptions carry over but specific stat numbers may need a fresh pull from paldb.cc.

Two new training systems

SystemWhat it doesStatus
AwakeningA new way to strengthen individual Pals beyond level capReported in Pocketpair’s announcement; specific UI flow not yet documented in primary sources
MutationA second stat-modification path that operates differently from AwakeningSame as above — confirmed existence, mechanics details TBD

We cannot confirm from primary sources as of this writing:

  • The exact UI flow for Awakening (where in the menu it lives).
  • Whether Mutation stacks with Awakening, with the Condenser, or replaces one of them.
  • Whether either system is gated by story progression or available immediately at level cap.

The community wiki and Pocketpair’s English patch notes are the live references; we’ll update this section when the mechanics are fully documented.

Quality-of-life improvements

Pocketpair’s 1.0 announcement and downstream coverage confirm:

  • Base building received a large-scale rework.
  • Multiplayer improvements (less specific detail in primary sources; check Pocketpair patch notes).
  • Graphics improvements (texture, lighting, performance).
  • All-Pals rebalance (mentioned above).

2. What 1.0 ends (Early Access farewell)

1.0 is Palworld’s first “official” release. From Pocketpair’s announcement:

  • The Early Access label is removed from Steam.
  • The game no longer carries the “Early Access” caveats in store listings.
  • Existing saves from 0.x versions carry forward into 1.0 (per Pocketpair’s save-migration documentation).

There is no separate “1.0 save” or save wipe; existing players pick up where they left off, plus the new content.

3. The story structure (verified at a high level)

Pocketpair’s announcement frames 1.0 as the story’s conclusion:

  • The Sun-Sky Village is the mid-game “discover the new world” chapter.
  • The World Tree is the end-game “face the story’s core” chapter.
  • Story progression follows the existing pattern: explore region → activate towers / sanctums → unlock next region → loop until end-game.

We cannot confirm the exact number of story chapters, the exact boss structure, or whether the 1.0 ending is a hard endpoint or a “new game plus” hook. Pocketpair has not yet published an end-game cinematic trailer as of this writing.

4. Existing save behavior

If you have an EA save going into 1.0:

  • Your Pals carry over but their stats reflect the 1.0 rebalance — a max-stat Jormuntide from EA may now be slightly stronger or weaker than a freshly-bred 1.0 Jormuntide.
  • Your base carries over but if you built around pre-rebalance Pals, some work-suitability assignments may need to be revisited.
  • Your inventory carries over including any pre-1.0 raid gear; check whether the rebalance changed Legendary-tier recipes.
  • World map progresses forward — existing tower captures stay active, new Sun-Sky Village / World Tree content is unlocked by progressing the 1.0 story.

5. Practical priorities for a returning player

If you have an EA save and want to play 1.0 effectively:

  1. Don’t panic-rebuild your base. The base reworks are QoL, not fundamental. Your old base still works.
  2. Re-pull your tier-list assumptions from paldb.cc or paldeck.cc before starting a new breeding project — the rebalance may have shifted the S-tier.
  3. Don’t grind endgame Pals yet. With 72 new Pals and 287 total, the new roster will take time to assess; community tier lists will firm up over the next month.
  4. Focus on the new regions. Sun-Sky Village and World Tree are the 1.0 content; prioritize unlocking both before grinding.
  5. Check the Awakening / Mutation systems once you hit level cap on a Pal — these are the new long-term progression paths.

6. Common pitfalls

PitfallWhat happensFix
Trusting an EA-era tier listThe 1.0 rebalance likely shifted rankingsPull fresh rankings from paldb.cc or paldeck.cc
Skipping the new storyMissing the Sun-Sky Village and World Tree contentPlay through the 1.0 story chapters before optimizing
Re-grinding “perfect” Pals from scratchWastes the rebalanced stats on existing PalsRe-evaluate your existing max-stat Pals before grinding
Assuming Awakening = Condenser replacementUnverified — they may stack, or they may serve different rolesRead Pocketpair’s official documentation once it lands
Hosting a server without back-up1.0 migration is one-way; bad config can corrupt savesAlways back up dedicated-server saves before patching
