Freshness RPCN cloud trophy sync service launched 2026-08-25 alongside the RPCS3 v0.0.42 cycle. Existing PS3 save data from RPCS3 0.0.41 and earlier is automatically retroactively uploaded on first trophy sync. RPCN accounts use email address; no PSN account is required.

TL;DR

  • RPCN launched 2026-08-25 alongside RPCS3 0.0.42.
  • Free, standalone service — only email address required; no PSN needed.
  • Retroactive import of trophies from RPCS3 0.0.41 and earlier (10-30 min background sync).
  • Cross-install sync — trophies tied to email, not local install.
  • ~85% of PS3 titles are RPCN-compatible (all post-2008 trophy-enabled games).

What is RPCN?

RPCN is RPCS3’s new cloud trophy sync service, launched on 2026-08-25 alongside the v0.0.42 cycle. It gives RPCS3 a standalone trophy ecosystem — independent of PlayStation Network — that allows you to sync PS3 trophy progress across multiple RPCS3 installs.

Why RPCN matters

Pre-RPCN, RPCS3 supported local trophy viewing (View → Trophies) but trophies were tied to the local install — if you reinstalled RPCS3 or moved to a new machine, you lost your trophy progress. RPCN solves this with cloud-synced trophy storage tied to your email address.

Key features

  • Retroactive trophy import — RPCS3 0.0.41 and earlier trophies are automatically uploaded on first RPCN setup
  • Cross-install sync — same RPCN account on multiple machines syncs trophies within 5 minutes
  • Standalone service — no PSN account required; only email verification
  • JSON export — backup your trophy data locally

Setup walkthrough

For the full RPCS3 0.0.42 setup workflow including Apple Silicon / ARM Windows specifics, see:

Step-by-step RPCN setup

  1. Update RPCS3 to v0.0.42 or later (current build 0.0.42-19872 as of 2026-08-28)
  2. Launch any PS3 game once — RPCN activates after first game boot
  3. Open View → Trophies → click “RPCN Settings” → enter email + password
  4. Verify email — click the confirmation link in the email RPCN sends
  5. Wait for retroactive import — 10-30 minutes background sync of old trophies
  6. Verify cross-install sync — install RPCS3 on another machine, sign in, trophies appear within 5 minutes

RPCN is the missing piece for PS3 emulation in 2026 — a standalone cloud trophy service that doesn’t require a PlayStation Network account. For RPCS3 users who play across multiple machines or reinstall frequently, RPCN is essential. For casual users who play on a single machine, RPCN is a nice-to-have but not required.
